Hospitality Center is an outreach ministry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church which provides service to the homeless and near homeless people of Racine. The Hospitality Center is open to all people without regard to social status, religious, or financial standing. It is truly a place to come and enjoy hospitality without agenda or ulterior motives.
No matter what your reason for stopping in, one thing is guaranteed: you won't leave the same as when you entered." We believe that providing hospitality to those who have nowhere to go may lead us to an encounter with Christ, and that by opening our church doors we increase the chance to allow true holiness to find us.
We invite you to "drop-in" and visit.
Our role is to welcome all people, regardless of background, identity, or mental health status. this includes those who are intoxicated or otherwise impaired. we provide shelter, food, emotional and spiritual support to those who feel unwanted or unwelcome in other settings.
Conversation, empathy, and understanding guide our decision-making and the way we treat one another.Above all, we are a place of hospitality, which means we are a place of peace.
We extend hospitality through partnerships with many community resources:
Volunteers are a key members of our team, making it possible for us to serve an average of 100+ guests each day. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Greet and Welcome Guests
- Assist on a Cooking Team
- Sort and Hand out clothing
- Drive to collect donations
- One-time cleaning and organizing projects
- Plug machines with quarters at a Laundry Love event
- Donate clothing, non-perishable foods, coffee, toiletry items, new socks and underwear, prizes to use for bingo
We especially welcome corporate groups for team building exercises or chaperoned youth groups for "mission" experiences.
