Outreach

          Blessing of the Pets:

Each year near St. Francis Day we hold a public "blessing of the pets" This year the blessing was  held in conjunction with the popular "Party on the Pavement"  which was sponsored by the Downtown Racine Corporation (of which St. Luke's is a member).

Outreach in a Downtown Parish

We are located in a renewing area of Racine, where the upwardly mobile and those who live            "on the margins" mingle. Our door buzzer is rung on a daily basis by people who have                         need for transportaion, shelter, precription, food, or clothing assistance. Whenever possible,              we connect people with local agencies which can provid for their needs.                                                 We also contrigute generously to our Rector's Discretionary fund so that we can meet                         urgent needs.

Villa St. Anna Services

Mother Martha Berger provides a monthly Eucharist for the residents of Villa St. Anna on the third Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm. What began as a monthly visit to Lincoln Lutheran Home to take communion to two parishioners there has become a most rewarding way to bring St. Luke's to seniors who are unable to attend service. All members are welcome to join in the service.

Saturday Sack Lunches

Once every three months, St. Luke's, in conjunction with First Methodist Church, produces 70 sack lunches of sandwiches and fruit to deliver to the needy.

St. Richard's Dinners

Several times a year, St. Luke's provides dinner for the hungry at St. Rose Catholic Church. Volunteers prepare casseroles, gelatins, and cupcakes and serve the meal.

Christmas Trees for Needy Children

St. Luke's covers the annual Christmas Tree with gifts for needy children who might not otherwise recieve a Christmas gift. The names are screened and provided by the Salvation Army. We also have a special "hat and mitten" tree-where members donate either hand knitted, crocheted or store bought hats and mittens. These items are distributed by our public schools to children that need them.

          Racine Vocational Ministry

St. Luke's gives both office space and financial supposrt to this highly successful ministry which

offers training for life and work through development of attitudes, habits, and skills that reflect

human diginity. RVM offers: vocational counseling, job-readiness training, life-skills education

job retention support, job-seekers suppost groups, referral services, and spiritual counseling.

RVM credits their success to believing that each client who walks through their doors is an

opportunity to welcome and serve Christ.

         The Haiti Project

St. Luke's supposts the church, school, clinic, and agricultural program of St. Marc's,

Jeannette, Haiti through the Diosese of Milwaukee Haiti Project. Parishioners sponsor students

at St. Marc's, make financial donations, and encourage individuals to participate in mission                  trips and work with our partners in Jeannette.
