Christian Education

"We are all on a journey and thus education is a life long process," states John Westerhoff, an Episcopal priest and professor of religion at Duke University Divinity School.

St. Luke's is dedicated to the idea that Christian Education is central to all its parishioners, whether young or old.

The Christian Education program offers classes for K-8 at 10:00 am. St. Luke's Youth group or "S.L.Y" (grades 9-12) meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm for pizza, soda, study and fellowship.

St. Luke's uses art, music, theater, and dance along with traditional lectures to enrich our children's knowledge of religion. Sunday School has participated in "Make a Difference Day" by holding a clothing give-away. In addition to learning about faith and the Church, youth have participated in the Heifer Project and the annual Crop Walk.

Adults have several opportunities for study:

Sunday mornings at 9:00 a class meets in Simpson Hall.

Wednesday mornings there is a Bible study class that meets in the library, which is currently using the Journey Through the Bible series published by Cokesbury.

St. Luke's also has special classes for those who wish to be Confirmed as a full member of the Church or those who wish to be Received into the Church. Contact the church at stlukesracine@sbcglobal.net to find out more.
